Oracle ERP Lead/Manager


The ERP Lead/Manager is a really exciting role, to take direct control of our newly formed ERP Managed Service workstream, workload and resource management and development of team objectives and performance.

This role is very much a “hands on” position that will require the Lead to spend approximately 70% of their time in servicing the customer on incidents, problem resolution and delivery of change. Approximately 30% of time will be spent managing and developing the team. 

There is the opportunity here for the right candidate to help shape and mould the service offering, linking into our wider service offerings; process review and improvements, consulting, support, change, testing and BPO outsourced services.

Reporting into the Head of Client Services, the role will also work closely with the Service Delivery Manager and Account Director, to ensure that the customer experience exceeds expectations.

Main duties and responsibilities  

  • Managing the ERP workload for primary customer including request fulfilment, Incident Management, Problem Management and Change
  • As appropriate undertake root cause analysis of client issues raised, apply fix as necessary and manage through to resolution
  • Managing expectations with the client through change and/or issue lifecycle
  • Working with the client to identify and document business requirements
  • Designing and configuring Oracle Cloud ERP solution to meet the client’s requirements (primarily finance, projects and SCM)
  • Design the functional solution for the client and ensure best practice approaches, tools and templates are used, and manage the team to deliver high quality solutions and services.
  • Partake and / or chair bi-weekly case status review calls where required in support of the customer or Symatrix teams
  • Proactive articulation of appropriate system enhancements and process workaround solutions
  • Fully document all solutions developed
  • Supporting the client through testing activities
  • Manage the ERP team; see people management below
  • Working across the wider suite of Managed Services to ensure the best possible customer experience and value recognition
  • Helping to grow our ERP service stream
  • Assist the sales team in pre-sales activities and tender responses
  • Establish strong and effective relationships with both internal and external clients
  • Identify further sales opportunities
  • Stay up to date with the Oracle ERP roadmap, new functionality, and releases
  • Deliver knowledge transfer to clients and teams

People management

  • Line management and performance review of team
  • Set clear performance objectives and review monthly
  • Review appropriate team members performance
  • Identify any skill gaps and create development plan to address
  • Chair Team meetings
  • Co-ordinate cover for the team for early and late shifts, holidays, bank holidays and sickness absence

Person specification


  • Excellent knowledge of the Oracle ERP suite; specifically Finance and Projects
  • Expert in multiple ERP modules
  • Has a positive/can do approach
  • Passionate about the customer experience
  • Takes ownership and accountability of the work they do
  • Ability to work across multiple clients and/or deliverables
  • Well organised and structured in approach
  • Demonstrates tenacity to overcome challenges and see an issue or piece of work through to the end 
  • Excellent attention to detail

  • A background in Finance, with some finance qualification
  • Experience of leading a team
  • Experience of ITIL fundamentals: Incident, Problem, Change and Release Management
  • Supporting pre-sales activities
  • Experience of responding to ITT/RFPs
  • Project Management experience
  • Process improvement experience
